Taylor Swift and Madonna were among the biggest winners of the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Madonna entered the night as the most-nominated artist, with 11 nods. She took home Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration for \u201cBring Your Love\u201d with Sabrina Carpenter and Best Dance for \u201cConfessions II \u2013 The Film.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taylor Swift followed with nine nominations. Swift won Video of the Year for \u201cThe Fate of Ophelia.\u201d She also received the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honor which was presented by her close friend Dakota Johnson<\/a>. In her acceptance speech for Video of the Year, Swift dedicated the Moon Person award to Dolly Parton, who was \u201cthe ultimate showgirl.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEvery single song that she wrote, her storytelling was so vivid and so rich,\u201d Swift said of Parton. \u201cEvery single time you hear what she has written, and she, man, she handled this thing with such grace and joy and love and gratitude for the fact that she got to do this, and everything that happened in her life or her career, she channeled back into love and gratitude and appreciation for her fans. I am lucky I got to be one of them, and I will always be one of them.\u201d

Swift also premiered the music video for her new single “Patient Zero” starring Johnson and Colin Farrell<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elsewhere, Lisa took home Best Pop for \u201cDream feat. Kentaro Sakaguchi,\u201d while Sienna Spiro won Best New Artist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony also featured tributes to Parton, led by Kacey Musgraves, and George Michael, who was honored with a tribute performance by Sombr, RAYE and Teddy Swims. Nirvana received the Video Vanguard Award.<\/p>\n\n\n
